WALKING FOR A CAUSE...AND SOMETIMES JUST BECAUSE

Walkin' in sunshine...

7-7-10

I did not get up this morning and walk. Nope, I got up this morning, played online for a bit, and then we geared up and went for another ride. We almost went to Six Flags, but the need for speed won out.

But... I did walk.

This evening I filled my Camelbak, slathered the sunscreen on, and headed out. It was 86 and I thought it would be a little warm feeling, but I do need to walk in some heat to adjust for the summer. The thing is, that 86 felt cooler than 70 does when I walk in the morning. At 6 pm there's a hell of a lot more shade covering the sidewalks, and combine that with a slight breeze--typical for evenings here--and it felt pretty freaking good.

Didn't hurt that it was also cooling off as I walked along instead of heating up.

I also discovered that the park is nicer in the evening. Aside from being cooler, there are a lot more people playing in the park, and it's just more fun to be there and people-watch.

I did 5 miles, not a lot when you consider I did a whole lot more than that last week, but technically it's what's on the training schedule. I'm getting my oomph back, which is what I was hoping for by taking it easier this week. My toe is still numbish, but it doesn't hurt when I walk, so I'm not terribly worried about it.

Please do look at that numb toe every evening to make sure you don't have any kind of blister or wound that you don't feel because it is numb. That is all, Nurse Kathy over and out. :)

Nurse Mike has checked it over carefully...we're thinking now it might not have anything to do with my shoes or walking; it might be because of the laptop cooling pad I've been using, pressing into a nerve. I stopped using it, so we'll see...

Gonna suck if I have tarsal tunnel...
