But... I did walk.
This evening I filled my Camelbak, slathered the sunscreen on, and headed out. It was 86 and I thought it would be a little warm feeling, but I do need to walk in some heat to adjust for the summer. The thing is, that 86 felt cooler than 70 does when I walk in the morning. At 6 pm there's a hell of a lot more shade covering the sidewalks, and combine that with a slight breeze--typical for evenings here--and it felt pretty freaking good.
Didn't hurt that it was also cooling off as I walked along instead of heating up.
I also discovered that the park is nicer in the evening. Aside from being cooler, there are a lot more people playing in the park, and it's just more fun to be there and people-watch.
I did 5 miles, not a lot when you consider I did a whole lot more than that last week, but technically it's what's on the training schedule. I'm getting my oomph back, which is what I was hoping for by taking it easier this week. My toe is still numbish, but it doesn't hurt when I walk, so I'm not terribly worried about it.
